with sparse historical details available, helbros watches is said to have begun in 1913 by the helbein brothers, immigrants from europe and purportedly born in russia (modern day ukraine). some of their early products display helbein bros. co. on the cases, later resorting to a portmanteau of that name.
they were known for selling modest and good quality watches, ultimately focusing on inexpensive pieces within a decade or so of the quartz crisis.
