Tissot PR-516 Navigator ref. 44624-3X 24-hour c.1970

$0.00

One often overlooked brand and lines of the turn of the 1970’s is Tissot, with their PR-516 and similar tool watch line. The Navigator models, like this one, are always eye-catchers of the bunch!

Coming in over 36mm, this ref. 44624-3X timepiece is indeed a true 24 hour pilot/navigation watch. (This, of course, means only one revolution of the hour hand per day.) It makes it a wonderfully unique and practical watch, with military and sport characteristics written all over it.

Take notice, these models have a fantastic iridescent dial that appears dark blue to black in the shadows and an aquamarine or turquoise hue when reflecting light. With this variant having an external rotating bezel and the 00:00 time at the 6pm position (instead of the traditional 12pm), it is a combination of rarely seen style that Tissot was notable for offering throughout their classic lines at the time. If you browse for these, you won’t come across many at all — most being in poor shape. If this is down your alley, snatch it up and don’t miss out!

According to their own advertisement featuring these watches:

Tissot tells all kinds of time.

Any job that needs timing is a job Tissot can time. With efficiency. With accuracy. With a watch specially designed for the function. The navigation watch has a 24-hour dial. The chronograph features special interval timers. There’s a model just for skin diving.

No matter what you do, there’s a special function Tissot to help you do it on time. Swiss made, Tissot is a name known for quality in 140 countries.

[All vintage watches are expected to function as described. However, due to age and generally unknown service history (unless otherwise stated), these watches may not keep time as accurately as new or quartz (battery) watches. This is completely normal and does not indicate that there is a major problem. Like your automobile, all mechanical watches will likely need to be serviced at some point in time. Please keep this in mind, as there is no guarantee regarding when these vintage watches may need standard maintenance. Every watch sold by Buying On Time is done so with the expectation that it is not currently in need of service or repair, unless noted. We guarantee that all watches sold are accurately described and in the stated condition when they leave our hands.]
