The early Omega Seamasters were truly a thing of subtle substance and style. From their origins in the late 1940’s, inspired by the reliability of British military watches in WWII, these models have consistently been a desirable all-around timepiece to own. Only slightly different from the predecessor models a few years earlier, this circa ‘55 Seamaster powered by the (then) new Caliber 500 automatic was heralded by many. As Omega advertised them at the time:

This 2846-1 SC model is a relatively uncommon variant, but still remains very similar to the models that Omega has since based their 1948 reissue collection upon. Inside lies the 1thin 9.8k beat per hour Caliber 500 automatic motor, which debuted in 1955. With faceted sword-tip markers, lone Arabic numerals at 12 o’clock, a dual tone dial that has gracefully aged with some nice creamy hues, and a sturdy stainless case design, this example is certainly an early Seamaster worthy of a spot in a serious watch collector’s box.
