Wittnauer Geneve Bowtie c.1968
Wittnauer Geneve Bowtie c.1968
**5x signed - dial, movement, case, crown, box**
1968 was a "sweet spot" for a number of watch brands -- and Longines-Wittnauer was no exception. This piece has a dead on classic look for the late '60s with the added flair of the 10 karat rolled gold plated bowtie case. If you're looking for a dressier type piece with a more age-appropriate size -- you've found one here.
An underrated addition for the horologically-inclined, this piece features original, very well executed engraving which depicts the purchase purpose from decades ago:
"B. Frank Snyder - Retirement - July 1, 1968 - C.C.N.B"
Combined with the original Longines-Wittnauer box and JB Champion combination bracelet - "scissor" expansion band, you'll quickly find that you're getting a watch that was at most sparingly worn. It's more than an old watch -- it's a piece of someone's well preserved history. And BOT is all about that.
[Be sure to check out the (19,800 beats per hour) Wittnauer 11KS caliber housed inside with it's beautifully striped bridges.]
Watch service history is unknown, but the watch is performing and timing excellently, and is ready to be worn right away!

[All vintage watches are expected to function as described. However, due to age and generally unknown service history (unless otherwise stated), these watches may not keep time as accurately as new or quartz (battery) watches. This is completely normal and does not indicate that there is a major problem. Like your automobile, all mechanical watches will likely need to be serviced at some point in time. Please keep this in mind, as there is no guarantee regarding when these vintage watches may need standard maintenance. Every watch sold by Buying On Time is done so with the expectation that it is not currently in need of service or repair, unless noted. We guarantee that all watches sold are accurately described and in the stated condition when they leave our hands.]
